Nominator's project description
| Professor McFarland is an internationally acclaimed and highly innovative scholar working on the dynamics of social networks in communicative events. His research bridges formal-quantitative modelling, qualitative-interpretive study and theoretical reflection. He has studied the dynamics of disruptive events in school classes, the effects of social networks on the identity development of school children and the communicative dynamics of speed dating, as well as contributing to the quantitative modelling of network dynamics and to the identification of thematic structures in large text bodies. In Germany, Professor McFarland will work on the conceptual foundations of the interplay of social networks and interaction. |
